What is The Fashion Journal
I’m Anna Cascarina and I am a fashion editor and stylist with over 25 years experience writing, editing and styling. I have been a fashion lecturer, ran my own magazine and worked with brands big and small styling both editorial and advertising.
As I have got older, things are inevitably changing and by creating a space here on Substack I am hoping to build a community of like minded women who love fashion, want to create a mindful wardrobe full of pieces they love.
I find that social media is becoming too noisy and frankly too exhausting. We’re fighting algorithms hoping to be seen, and if you’re over the age of 40, well let’s just say it’s even harder. Influencers are constantly flogging items they don’t really believe in, just to make a quick buck and as someone whose integrity means more than anything, I’m struggling to deal with the lack of transparency.
Having a Substack allows me to be truly authentic. You won’t find me suggesting anything I don’t like or would wear myself. All reviews and discussions are completely authentic and true. That’s how it should be and if I’m going to have any kind of influence at all, then this is incredibly important to me.
So what will I deliver?
I’ll be collating weekly edits full of pieces I love. Some may be items I’ve bought, some may be items I’m lusting after or are on my wishlist, and others might just be items I think are really cool and/or useful.
I’ll also be sharing my musings as a fashion editor including how to create an edited wardrobe, with tips and ideas. The will be opportunities for paid subscribers to get their style dilemmas answered and I will be writing updates on new launches, fashion week reviews and ‘get the look’ ideas.
There’s two tiers on my substack. One for free subscribers, where you’ll get access to an edited version of my weekly style edits. And then a more comprehensive paid subscription which will give you access to a more detailed weekly edit, more newsletters and style tips.
Free Subscribers
The Sunday list - I’ll be posting a weekly Sunday edit of the best items I’ve found on the internet that week and if you are a free subscriber you will get access to the first 10 items delivered straight to your inbox.
Paid Subscribers (£6 per month / £60 per year)
The Sunday list - If you upgrade to a paid subscription, you will have access to the full Sunday edit of at least 20 items.
Ask Anna - You and other paid subscribers can ask me style dilemmas and I will answer 2 per week. This can be a question about how to dress for your shape, ideas of what to wear for a particular occasion or any other style questions you may have.
Plus 2-3 other newsletters that help with anything from capsule wardrobe advice, my favourite beauty buys, new brand launches, fashion week edits, get the looks and reviews.
Complete community access with the ability to comment on all posts.
Founding Membership (£250 per year)
As well as all the other content paid subscribers receive, founding members will get a 45 minute virtual styling session with me to work through your personal style questions, wardrobe dilemmas and anything else that you may want to chat about.

Hi, I have been a paid subscriber for a long time and want to cancel the paid subscription. Can’t find anywhere to do so. Substack says that I can’t do it in the app. How may I manage my subscription?
Hi Anna! I’m a recent subscriber and I’m curious about all the interesting tops (ruched, off the shoulder, etc.) that you use to style with your trousers. Could you share some of those (either links or brands where you have good luck finding them!) when it works for you? I tried to scroll back through here and instagram but not having much luck! Thank you so much!
