Last week I did a poll to see what people wanted to see in my next post and most people chose basics.
So for this weeks Sunday List, I’ll be including all my favourite basics, where to get them and why they’re the perfect pieces for your wardrobe.
I’ll be focusing on pieces that have longevity in your wardrobe and are worth investing in, however I will try to add as many price points as possible. But bear in mind, these are the pieces that you want to last, that you will wear over and over and that bridge those gaps in your wardrobe, so it is totally worth spending as much as you can afford on these pieces so that they don’t fall apart on the first wear or wash.
Also, if you are a colour and print lover, it’s still totally worth investing in neutral basics as they can really help with building an outfit. For example a crisp white t-shirt looks incredible with a printed skirt or under a bright cardigan. Or a beautiful cashmere jumper in any colour is the perfect piece to wear on a crisp autumn morning. These basics are usually the items that are missing from your wardrobe and can be the gap that needs filling when it comes to creating your outfits.
Short sleeve round neck T-shirts
Everyone needs a few short sleeve tees in their wardrobes. My most worn are white, grey and black, but you could always add in a few colours each season too. A really good white tee needs to be a good weight, a good fit around the shoulders and arms and the right length. A good round neck will look really nice poking out from under a sweater, so you want it to be nice and neat around the neck.

Tailored Trousers
Probably my most worn item in the winter, tailored trousers are such a great way to look polished. You can dress them up with heels and a cute top in the evening, or wear more relaxed with flats or trainers and a sweatshirt for daywear.

Layering tops
Layers are key when it comes to winter dressing. Especially if you’re anything like me and go from hot to cold throughout the day! Look for breathable pieces that are ultra fine that you can wear either on it’s own or under a jumper/cardigan or blazer.

Cashmere sweater
Cashmere is a bit of a luxury, but there are some really good price points out there. Plus if you look after it, then a cashmere jumper really can last forever. It is so warm and cosy but also can keep the body temperature regulated so you don’t overheat.
