It’s a new week and I’ve noticed some Autumnal leaves on the ground. It’s happening everyone, Summer is bidding it’s farewell and we await all the glorious colours of the Autumn.
A new season means a fresh start for some and this can filter through into our wardrobes where we want to give it a bit of a new lease of life, a fresh start. And this doesn’t necessarily mean lots of newness, far from it. But perhaps we just need to slow down a bit, look at what we have and figure out how we can get the most wear out of our wardrobe.
Packing away the past seasons pieces is quite a cathartic task. It allows you to really look at what you have in your wardrobe, work out what you get the most wear out of and whether last years pieces have stood the test of time.
My advice is to give your wardrobe a bit of a refresh and sort through what you no longer need for the season ahead and pack it all away safely. Go through your Autumn pieces and see if you need to update or repair anything. Make sure the moths haven’t gone to town on your knitwear. Look at any basics that might need replacing.
Have a little play around with your outfits. Look at any saved outfit images for inspiration and think about whether you can recreate anything with items you have in your own wardrobe. Any outfits you try on and like, take a mirror selfie and save it in an album titled ‘Outfits’. This way you have a bank of outfit ideas that you can refer back to anytime you’re struggling to know what to wear.
While doing this, if you come up with any style questions, then send me a message and I’ll add it to my list of style dilemmas to answer in these posts.
So with that, let’s get stuck into todays Style Dilemmas. I have two great questions and the first question is from Karen, who asks…
I am loving your recommendations!! If possible could you give some idea on how to style the long black cargo skirt you shared from COS a few weeks ago? I bought one and I am struggling to pair with the rest of my wardrobe. Thank you!!!
That Cos skirt is such a great buy. It’s a great length and the cargo pockets just give it that modern edge. Unfortunately I think it’s mostly sold out at the moment, but it does keep coming back in stock, so keep an eye out. I’ve also added some alternatives, all of which will look great with the following outfit ideas, at the end of this question for anyone who is looking for a similar look.
The great thing about a skirt like this is it’s pretty seasonless. It’s a great option for when the weather a bit warmer as you can wear with flip flops and a vest and it’s the perfect easy breezy outfit. Or when the weather turns like it is now, there’s also multiple ways to wear. Below are 4 ways I’ll be styling it this Autumn.
